Command Audio’s technology enables consumers to timeshift broadcast programming for listening or viewing at a convenient time and place.
Here are some examples of consumer devices that use Command Audio’s technology:
- Satellite radios with on-board storage become digital music players but without any need for a broadband connection or computer
- Personal video recorders, or PVRs (also known as digital video recorders, or DVRs), give viewers the ability to watch the shows they want when they want
- Radios with record capability allow users to listen to whatever radio programming they want whenever they want
- DVD/PVR combination devices add DVD player capabilities to PVRs so viewers can completely control when and in what form they watch their favorite videos and programs
- Game consoles that incorporate both broadcast tuners and hard disk drives enable PVR features for television along with the ability to update games by broadcast means
- Cell phones with broadcast tuners and sufficient storage capacity allow users to receive short videos (such as movie trailers) or samples of newly-released music, then use their phones to conveniently purchase movie tickets or download full songs
- Personal computers with PVR software add television timeshifting functionality to desktops or laptops
- Digital media servers (also referred to as home media centers) incorporate PVRs along with centralized in-home storage and provide access throughout the home to a wide range of media, including television, videos, music and digital photos
- Television set top boxes with integrated PVRs provide cable and satellite television viewers complete control over what and when they watch
- Telematics systems bring entertainment, information, communication and navigation services to people in their cars and, when equipped with high capacity storage, enable listening or back seat viewing whenever and wherever convenient
